The club will offer a wide range of fun exciting activities whether you are a complete novice or looking to develop your biking skills.
When and where do you meet?
The club kicks off on Monday 30th May from 6.30pm-8pm and will continue to meet every Monday evening until the autumn with a varied programme of activities. We meet at the astro-turf car park opposite Kirkcaldy High School.
See the trails map which can be downloaded by clicking here.
Who can join and how much does it cost?
There is no lower or upper age limit for the club.
The only restriction we have is that riders should be able to cycle unaided and without stabilizers. Any doubts best thing to do is come along and see how you get on.
Parents/guardians must give consent prior to a young person taking part. The first two sessions are free and then its £10 to join the Middleden Mountain Bike Club (See club benefits).
To join the club you must return a completed membership form which are downloadable from the website. These can be returned to Mark Durkin C/O Middleden Mountain Bike Club 15 The Moorings, Dalgety Bay Fife KY11 9GP or given to a club official on a club night.
The sessions are open to all abilities and we tailor the sessions to meet the needs of the riders. Sessions start with registration, a bike, helmet and clothing check followed by a warm up.
Each session will include fun activities. Riders will be coached in bike handling skills, which will develop all aspects of bike riding, in a safe traffic-free environment.
The sessions will finish with a fun challenge (e.g. race or relay) and, finally, a warm down and sign out.
All activities will be monitored by the fully trained volunteer leaders.
What do I need to bring?
All you really need is a bike and a helmet (see our bike safety check and helmet fitting guide). All riders and coaches must wear helmets at all times when on a bike
We try to run sessions regardless of weather so even if it is sunny and warm when you leave the house please make sure you bring some foul weather clothing. We also recommend wearing gloves to protect your hands and keep them warm.
The session runs for one hour thirty minutes so also please bring a snack and a drink.
Can I help?
Parents are more than welcome to stay and assist their children especially with the younger group. We also very much welcome any parents who would be willing to help in the wider sessions and be registered as a formal club helper. Although there is no commitment to help out every week we do require all coaches and volunteers to go through the Disclosure Scotland process which the club arranges. We are always keen to support members who are willing to attend coaching and official courses.
